‘Ready,Steady,Cook’Week 7

Teens in the Kitchen Cookery Course

  • A chance for your teenager to learn a skill for life. They will learn a full range of cooking skills to gain confidence in the kitchen and be able to show off these skills in the last session, a ‘Ready, Steady Cook’ challenge. 
  • All the vegetarian ingredients, recipes and course materials are provided.
  • Seven x 2hour classes over 3 months. Completion of all classes meets requirements for D of E Bronze Award Skills Section.
  • Starting 31st January through to 2nd May 2026 for a total of £259.

Course Content 2026:

Session 1 – January 31st

Brunch Dishes – One-Pan Huevos Rancheros, Banana Oat Pancakes and Overnight Oats

Discussion: Why our food choices are important

Session 2 – February 14th

Veg Curry, Bean Chilli and Zingy Vegetable Stir Fry

Discussion: Spices used round the world

Session 3 – February 28th

Italian style Bread (Focaccia),Pizza Sauce, Fruit Scones and Sandwich Fillings.

Discussion: Good carbs

Session 4 – March 14th

Fruity desserts – Crumble, Frangipane Tart and Jumbleberry Jam

Discussion: Good fats.

Session 5 – March 28th

Rocket Pesto with Spiralised Courgette, Brown Rice Salad with Soy Dressing, Hummus, Rainbow Slaw with Creamy Lime and Coriander Dressing.

Discussion: Good proteins

Session 6 – April 25th

Veggie Roast Dinner – Vegetable Wellington, Roast Potatoes, Seasonal Veg and Vegan Gravy. 

Discussion: The Power of Plants and how to put together a well-balanced meal.

Session 7 – May 2nd

‘Ready, Steady, Cook!’ – a chance for everyone to get creative and use their cooking skills.
